Day to Night outfit

Yesterday I was out all day! I attempted to see 3 of the basketball players from UK at a signing event, but it was madness! First of all it was cold and rainy yesterday ( NOT FUN!) and you had to wait outside, And they were running late. So I was outside in the cold rain forever and gave up. It wasn't worth it ( No offense, if it was warm I would have waited all day :) ).

I knew there would be some wait and I wanted to make this outfit a little more casual so I chose my favorite black flats that I bought at Journey's a couple of years ago. I am wearing a black blazer from Maurices, black tank top from Alloy, Cheetah print shirt from Forever 21, and jeggings by GAP. My jewelry is also from Forever 21.

I wanted more dramatic jewelry for night. Sorry my hair is in the way. It occurred to me later that I should show you a close up of my necklace. It's gold with all the jewels. My jewelry is from Forever 21 in my night look as well ( I had simple gold studs on with this look so my necklace was the main focus).

Here is a close up of my shoes. I LOVE them! They are really easy to walk in since they are wedges. :)

And that's how I do a day to night look. Hope you liked it.

Birchbox #1!

YAY! My first birch box came in the mail! Okay, so I've had it about a week now, but I wanted to review the products before I talked about them.

If you don't know what Birchbox is, it is a monthly subscription box that gives you trial sized samples of beauty and lifestyle products. They have a bunch of well known brands that you can get samples from! You go to birchbox.com and sign up. The subscriptions come on a first come basis so you may have to wait a while before they pick you, but when they do you get the monthly subscription for $10 a month. You fill out some info so you get products that are best suited for you. There are a ton of things you can get each month, but they pick 4-5 for your Birchbox and you can go on their website and read more about them. FUN! :)

So this is what the Birchbox looks like. The packaging is really cute.

April's birchbox was natural wonders themed. All of the products have natural ingredients. I don't really have a lot of natural products in my stash (mainly because I'm afraid to try them, but that's why I subscribed to birchbox!) so I was really excited to try some out!

When you open it this is what it looks like (the Julique day cream actually came in a box, but my niece tore into it thinking it was a fun toy for her LOL).

And this is what I got!
Wonderstruck perfume by Taylor Swift. This does smell good, but it's just not for me. I'm not really into florals. I like Vanilla, Amber, Sandalwood, and Coconut scents the best.
Dropps laundry detergent. Umm not too crazy about this one either. Although I appreciate the lifestyle samples, I just wasn't thrilled about laundry detergent. I gave these to my mom.
Jurlique moisture replenishing day cream. I'm really enjoying this! I have a super oily T-zone so I can't use this in that area. It is really thick and creamy, but it is perfect for my cheeks. They get really dry and my everyday moisturizer just isn't enough to relieve that, so it's been really good.
J.R. Watkins hand & cuticle salve. I got the Aloe and Green Tea scent. I was really excited about this product. I have been wanting a cuticle salve for a while. My nails get neglected :/ so I was wanting something for them. It's a really good sized sample too.
Alima Pure Organic Nourishing Lip Balm in Rhubarb. I'm really enjoying this as well. The color isn't strong which I like since it's just a lip balm. This feels so good on my lips. It gives a cool tingly feeling, which I love and it smells nice. I can definitely feel a difference when I put this one. This is a good sized sample too. It will last forever for me.

So that's the April birchbox. I'm a little disappointed in my first birch box, just because I  wanted some makeup samples, but I can appreciate the nature theme and the products I received. I do still really like the idea of birchbox and I can't wait until May's birchbox gets here! You should definitely check it out if you want samples and want to try new products that you may not have the money for.

Sun Day

It was such a beautiful day today so I wanted to share it with you! Sunny 80 degrees with a nice breeze. Perfection.
Today was just a laid-back sunday. It was my papaw's birthday so I went to my grandparents house for a family dinner for him and then just went out to town.

So while I was writing this blog I realized that my whole outfit is from American Eagle Outfitters. I can't say i'm surprised really. It is one of my favorite stores. I have been branching out here lately, but I still love it. So my scarf, tank top, jeggings, flip-flops, sunglasses, even my earrings and bracelets are all from American Eagle Outfitters. This was not intentional when I was planning my outfit today.

Brandon was getting into trouble here :)

I tried out an orange lip today. This was a first for me. I'll do swatches of the two orange lip colors I bought soon. I'm really loving them for spring and summer.

I went with a top knot hairstyle as well. I love this look, especially with scarves. And it's super easy. And a great way to avoid using a lot of heat on your hair.

I hope everyone had a wonderful sunday.

Affordable OOTD

I just went out for Chinese food and to get some things at WalMart with my boyfriend so I kept my outfit comfortable. I had some 80's inspiration in my outfit today, but still kept it modern. This outfit was actually very affordable. The shirt I have had about 2 years now, but I got it at WalMart. It is from the Miley Cyrus and Max Azria line they sold there for a while. It was only a couple of dollars! I bought my my skirt at Forever 21 last November. It was around $10. I have a simple silver belt from New York and Company. It is the neatest belt! You can adjust the length of it so you can wear it around your hips, or if you are like me and like to accentuate the smallest part of your waist and wear your belts higher up, then you can just make the belt shorter. Love it! My shoes are from Old Navy. I love their flip flops. Super cheap.

My MAC eyeshadow palette

I just wanted to take a minute to let you guys see what's in my MAC eye shadow palette. I really love mine. It's convenient to have a bunch of shades all in one place. And you pick what shadows you want  so you can get your moneys worth. This is the x15 pan so it was rather expensive, around $188, but because I got to pick what shades I wanted, I thought it was worth it. Most eyeshadow palettes are already made so you take the chance of getting a color or two that your aren't crazy about, but with this one you know what you are getting, you picked it! Also, once you have used all of one shade you can just buy the refill pan and replace it. A refill pan is $11.50. It takes forever to hit pan, so I thought that was a good deal. And if you don't like a shade you can replace it with another.

So I'm going to jump right into the shades now and tell you what they are :)
From left to right
top row: Nylon, Brule, Naked Lunch, All That Glitters, Vanilla
middle row: Satin Taupe, Woodwinked, Cork, Wedge, Omega
bottom row: Charcoal Brown, Brun, Electra, Deep Truth, Contrast
MAC eyeshadow palette x15

I have the lightest shades in the top row, middle shades in the middle, lol, and the darker shades in the bottom row.

As you can see this is a neutral palette. I really don't wear a lot of colorful eyeshadows, I like to keep the wild colors for my lipstick. I like to do a brown smokey eye so I picked shades for that. I do have some blue/purple in this palette. I wanted some color in my makeup and loved these. I like to do a blue/navy smokey eye as well, so that's why I chose to put Electra, Deep Truth, and Contrast in there.

The shades that get the most love from me would have to be:
  • Brule- great for all over the lid. Very similar to my skin color.
  • Naked Lunch- a light pink with a lithe shimmer. I love it for all over the lid as well, but it gives me a little color in the lid.
  • Satin Taupe- love, love, love using for in the crease. It's SO pretty.
  • Charcoal Brown- I also use for the crease.
  • Nylon- I use this every day for my inner corner. It brightens me up like nothing else.
  • Omega- I use this every day on my brows.
  • Vanilla- I use this every day for under my brows.
So that's my MAC palette. I hope this is helpful if you are thinking about buying one or just wanting some MAC eyeshadows. They are amazing.

5 Things About Me

My niece, boyfriend, and me. :)

Hi! :) I've been blogging for a little over a month now and it occurred to me that I really haven't shared anything about myself other than my love of fashion and makeup, so I thought I should do that today.

1. I think one of the biggest things that makes me who I am is where I am from. I was born, raised, and still live in Eastern Kentucky, USA. I had to be specific with the region of Kentucky that I am from because I think we got a lot of negativity that comes along with our region. It is a poorer area of the country, but not all of us are living in poverty here and not all of us are addicted to Mountain Dew (I don't even like Mountain Dew). I realize not everyone believes the stereotype, but it just hurts my feelings when I see us portrayed like this in the media. Anyways, now that I've ranted a bit.....It is a beautiful place. I love my mountains and even my small town. I do wish I had a mall close to my area, but that's why online shopping is so great!

2. I'm going to pharmacy school!!!! and not just any school I have been accepted at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy! It has been my dream to go there for so long and I got in! It is ranked #5 in the nation, so not too shabby. :) I went through a period of doubt thinking I wasn't good enough to get in, but I did. So never give your all and never give up and you can do it! I'll be starting in the fall. SO excited!

3.  I have been dating my boyfriend, Brandon, for about a year and a half now. He has always been so supportive of my love of fashion and makeup. I think we are behind the times here in Eastern Ky, so I do "stand out" compared to what everyone else wears, and I have got negative comments before, but he loves what I wear and encourages me. I think that is so important. Another lesson to girls, don't let someone bring you down, because you can and will find someone that likes/loves you for you. AND be yourself, it doesn't matter what other people think! Yea, so, Brandon is the best! He is a P.E. teacher and soccer coach and I love him a lot. :)

4. My hair is naturally blonde. I don't dye or do anything to my hair to color it. I think it keeps my hair healthy. I love my hair. I use to have long hair, then I went mad and chopped it off, so now I'm in the process of letting it grow back out a little. I think not coloring my hair helps me to keep it healthier since I do use a lot of heat on it.

5. I'm a complete nerd and I love it. I actually love to study! I love learning new things. It has never been a chore for me to study, except for math. I always loved my biology classes and history classes. I really enjoy watching animal planet and discovery channel. I am obsessed with Harry Potter! LOVE IT! Why does it have to be over :( and my car's name is Optimus Prime.

That's just 5 things about me. If you want to know more, within reason, then ask away. Thanks for reading! xx

Easter OOTD

Happy Easter to everyone! Just wanted to do a quick OOTD and show off my Easter dress. I got it at Dillard's forever ago so I don't know the designer, just where I bought it at, sorry. I have wore it a couple of times before. I'm not one of these girls that only wears an outfit once. I recycle. :) My cardigan is from Old Navy and my shoes are American Eagle at Payless. I kept it simple with my jewelry and make  up since my outfit had a lot going on. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter sunday. :)

Philosophy goodies! and a random purchase

I have always liked the brand Philosophy, but I've not got the chance to really try out a variety of their products. So today was my lucky day! My wonderful grandmother, knowing how much I love beauty products, gave me some Philosophy sets. I have the Purity face wash and a shower creme so I am so excited to try these out! And I love the packaging. The boxes are too cute!

The first set is the peace on earth set. The set seems to be a very relaxing and well, peaceful scent. It says that it is tranquil orchid, that sounds peaceful to me. I tend to get stressed very easily so I think this will be amazing! Just looking at the purple colors relaxes me.

The second set my grandma got me is the i think you are wonderful set. The packaging for this set is even cuter than the first. This set came with the pure grace shower creme and body lotion. I love, love, love this scent. It smells so fresh and clean. I don't really like to use a lot of crazy scented shower gels, just because I'm afraid they won't mix with my perfume well. I think this is perfect though. It's just a nice clean scent and it just makes you feel good when you are using it.

Another thing I'm excited about is my new conair hair dryer! I was in desperate need of one, so today I was browsing through the sale items in the beauty section on WalMart and this hair dryer was on sale. Half off! I got it for 15.00 dollars. I was so excited. First of all it's pink! and it came with 2 attachments. I always lose them so I'm going to try to do better this time. It's got the retractable cord which is great. I am back and forth all of the time when I'm in school so that makes it way more convenient. I really like conair. I have a curling iron from them and it is great.

It was definitely a good day for me beauty wise! I hope it was for you as well.

March Favs!

First of all, can you believe it's April???? March flew by. I'm not complaining because that means summer is around the corner. :) Now, I'll talk about what I'm really here to talk about. March was a good month for me. I went a little crazy buying stuff so I tried to pick the stuff that has become essential for me.

I think I should start by telling you about my hair. It is extremely oily. I have to wash my hair every. single. day. In high school (which seems like a million years ago to me now), I would have to wash my bangs after I got home from school because they would be completely greased over. Gross, I know. It has gotten better, but it's still bad. Then I discovered the first product I have here. TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo. It's AMAZING! I have used other brands before, but this stuff works wonders for me. I can actually skip a day washing my hair. And it gives me volume. LOVE.

I also decided to give the brand LUSH a try this month and now I'm a lushy, but that's for another blog. I know I'm late to this fad, but It's hard to get me to try stuff. Anyways, I got the I LOVE JUICY shampoo. It smells SOOOO good. It has pineapples, mango, and kiwi juices in it. It is great when I use it in the mornings. It perks me right up. But besides the smell, it works! It cleanses my hair, but also gives me the softest texture. I love the way my hair feels after I use it. Other shampoos that are for oily hair always make my hair tangle really easy.
TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret | Lush I Love Juicy
Only one thing for skincare this month and it is Clinique's acne solutions clarifying lotion. As you can see I've used a pretty goos amount of this stuff and I love it. I really think that it is important to include a toner is your skincare routine and this one addresses the issues I have with my skin. March as been an unusually stressful month for me so my skin has been crazy, but I think without this it would have been completely hopeless. It has helped me to control my breakouts as much as possible.
Clinique acne solutions clarifying lotion
And my March makeup favorites. I'll just jump right in from left to right.
First, my MAC studio sculpt concealer in NW20. This stuff is amazing for under eye concealer. The consistency, which is gel-like to me, is perfect for covering up my under eye circles. It blends nicely and doesn't sit into my fine lines like other concealers do.

Next I have my Clinique bottom lash mascara. This stuff is genius. It it so much easier to apply and it doesn't budge! I have issues with mascara running down my face, but this has solved all that.

This next product is probably the most amazing discovery ever! It is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Max foundation in Creamy Ivory (I use it as a concealer). It is in a sample bottle and I'll tell you why. I went to a makeup event last weak at my local Estee Lauder counter and was dying to try this, So I got a sample. I have purchased an actual tube of this, but the woman at the makeup counter pre-sold it to me so I could get the gift sample set at the end of the month. So after April 25th I can go and pick up my Double Wear Max and my gift bag. :) But back to the product. This stuff covers like nothing else! I could NOT find anything to cover blemishes. Everything always would come off no matter how much I would use setting powder. I thought I was doomed to eternally have my horrible skin show to the world, and then I seen a video by Holly or YYMB on youtube and she uses this stuff. It's a miracle from God. I will never be without it again. I could never use it as foundation, because this stuff is heavy. But as concealer it's prefect.
And then I have my NARS blush in Deep Throat. The name is so rude, but the color is so lovely. I have wore it like every day since I got it. It goes with any look.

MAC studiosculpt concealer | Clinique bottom lash mascara | Estee Lauder Double Wear Max | Nars blush Deep Throat

Oh and I forgot to take a picture, but i'll mention it anyways. I fell back in love with my Bare Minerals Matte blush this month. There for a while I was liking the Revlon Colorstay for oily skin liquid foundation. and I honestly don't know what I was thinking. No offense to Revlon it did a good job for oily skin, but my Bare Minerals is just amazing. It makes my skin look so much healthier and gives is a glow. It's wonderful. The matte formula is great for my skin. It has great coverage and it's fool proof. I'm never deviating again.

What was your March favs? Thanks for reading! xx

Final Four OOTD

As you probably know my UK wildcats made it to the final four which was today. Oh and we WON!!! :) We are going to the championship! I work for UK and I'll be attending pharmacy school at the University of Kentucky in the fall, so they are my team. I had to have an outfit appropriate to cheer on the number 1 team in the nation and this is what I came up with.

My shirt is from PINK by Victoria's Secret. It's cute and girly. It has a Uk symbol in sequins on the front and Wildcats in sequins across the back. I love this shirt.

Then I have my white scarf with blue paw prints on it. I like to mix up how I wear it to keep it interesting.

Then my kentucky blue converse, because you have to have blue in from head to toe! :)

I also wore blue eyeliner on my
Bottom lash line. And opted for pink lipstick. I wouldn't have been caught dead in my red lipstick today!

New Jewelry!!!

It's been FOREVER since I have posted something. I have been so busy with school and work! I got my physics test over with today so I am back! and with new jewelry. My sister sales jewelry from Premier Designs so I have been buying some of their pieces here lately. I have been really satisfied with their services and quality of their pieces so far. This 3 pieces are my first really fun pieces from Premier so I am excited about them.

First up is my favorite! I LOVE them. The picture is horrible quality ( I will take another one soon) and does not do them justice. I'm pretty sure the earrings and bracelet are called Dahlia. I will find out for certain. It is the prettiest turquoise blue with bright gold. The earrings aren't too heavy so that's good too. Another thing that is interesting about the earring is they are clip-po style. You can wear them as clip ons or as post.

I'll admit I'm a complete earring addict! They are my favorite piece of jewelry. So I got another pair! This style is called Cabana. I loved these for summer. They are gold with peachy pink beads. They are really light too.

I've been on a big gold kick here lately. I'm loving all things gold. I'm going on a cruise in June and I think these pieces will be perfect for it.

Thanks for reading. xx

St. Patrick's Day OOTD

Happy St. Patrick's Day! It was a beautiful day today. Perfect to wear my new green pants I purchased last week! Needless to say, I didn't get pinched today. :) I love dressing up for holidays and this one is no exception, so i planned my outfit around these cropped pants. My boyfriend took me out to dinner tonight to celebrate. I learned this week that I have been accepted at the University of Kentucky college of Pharmacy! which is AMAZING! So I wanted to dress up for the occasion. Hope you like my outfit! xx

Spring OOTD

Today was beautiful! 77 degrees and sunny in Kentucky! It inspired me to have a fun outfit today. I wanted to put some color in my outfit so I wore my red with white polka dot skirt from GAP. I think it's so cute and the small polka dots make it a fun and girly print. I kept the rest of the outfit simple since I had a print on my skirt. The belt I got off another skirt that I bought at JC PENNY forever ago. It has a snake skin print on it, but it's pretty basic. I bought my flats at Journey's, they are made my Icora, almost 2 years ago now. They have a pointed tow and a frilly lacey design on the front. They are my favorite flats. They I also had class today so I kept my hair simple.

Old Navy shirt | GAP skirt

This was my favorite part of my outfit today. This is a close up of my necklace. I love it! It's perfect for spring. It is a red strawberry with gold beads in it to look like the seeds then it has a pink jewel dangling from the top. I bought this at a shop in Florence, Italy when i was there in 2007. I don't remember the name of the store now, sorry. :( I love this necklace. It is one of my favorites because I bought it on my trip and it is just a really fun piece.
Here is a picture of the bracelets I wore today. They didn't show up in the picture. The red and sliver bead bracelet was a gift from my parents when they went to New Orleans about 2 years ago. I really love this bracelet as you can see. Some of the paint has chipped off, but I wear it anyways! lol. Next, is a pink beaded bracelet that was a christmas present, so I'm not sure where it's from. Then I have my Fossil watch. I wear this all the time! It goes with anything. I really like piling on the bracelets and it's a big trend right now.

Winter Fragrance

Now that the weather is warmer and Spring is practically here I thought I would tell you about the scent I used pretty much everyday this winter. It is Sensual Amber from Bath and Body Works signature collection. I LOVE it! I really like the more musky/amber/vanilla scents the most, especially in autumn and winter. I received the intense moisture body butter as a Christmas gift from my boyfriend's grandparents and fell in love with the scent. I immediately went out and bought the fine fragrance mist and body lotion in the same scent. As you can see I've barely even used anything out of the mist! You get your money's worth. Also, they were having some sort of sale when I purchased these items so I got a good deal on them. I can't remember exactly what the deal was now (since it was around the beginning of January when I bought them), but it's my experience that Bath and Body works always has a pretty good deal going on. I also have quit a bit of the body lotion and body butter left too. So, if you are into these type of scents then I think this is a good one. Like I said I love it. It smells warm, and comfy, and sexy :P. I also like the quality of these products. The body butter and lotion are amazing. I am a lotion fanatic! I put it on from head to toe every day. I hate how I feel without lotion on, especially in winter when my skin is drier. These products did their job.

Sephora haul

I am finally getting around to talking about all of the goodies I picked up at Sephora yesterday. I was in makeup heaven. I got a little of everything, makeup and tools.

I'll talk about my tools first. I bought some fake eyelashes from Wal Mart and really liked them, but the glue that came with them was horrible so I got the good stuff yesterday. My old eyelash curler was like 10 billion years old so it was definitely time for a new one. They had such cute colors too. Of course I got them in pink! It's my favorite color. I also got a sephora brow brush.

DUO eyelash adhesive | Sephora eyelash curler | Sephora Professionnel brow brush

Now for the makeup! I recently got some MAC studio sculpt concealer, but I am just using that as my under eye concealer. I heard really great things about the NARS concealer so I decided to try that out for my all over face concealer. In the middle is Clinique's bottom lash mascara. I used this today and loved it. I have been wanting it for a while and they were sold out of it in black at my Clinique counter where I live, so I finally got the chance to pick it up. I also purchased Urban Decay's De Slick setting spray by Skindinavia. I am SO excited about this. I have extremely oily skin so I think this will be great! I have heard wonderful things about it and can not wait to try it out. When I do I will let you guys know what I think. It claims to hold for up to 16 hours, which is AMAZING! So we will see. :) And last, but certainly not least is some NARS blush. I got the color Deep Throat (rude name, but beautiful color!) It is a light peach with a little gold shimmer. I love it! I think it will be great for summer!

Because Sephora is so great I got some samples! The first is the complimentary sample they gave me. It's a small jar of Shiseido Extra Smooth Sun Protection Lotion for face and body. It has an SPF of 33. I'm looking forward to using this since we are starting to get nicer weather. I don't know much about Shiseido, so I will have to look into them. Next is something I was able to get from my rewards. If you get 100 points then you are able to get free samples of great products. I picked the Tarte smooth operator micronized clay finishing powder. I have heard a lot about this product as well! I didn't even hesitate when they asked which product I wanted to try!

GAP and Forever 21

I went shopping today, which was good for my closet, but not for bank account! :) I picked up some really cute things for spring. Most of my money was spent on makeup ( I'll post a Sephora haul separate from this later since I bought so much there!), but I did purchase a few things from the GAP and Forever 21 today as well. I will have to calm myself down on the shopping for a while since I am wanting to by myself the new iPad. I'm really loving all of the spring trends with the bright colors, color block, and brights with nudes, and my purchases are all about the new trends. I don't buy stuff just because it's trendy. I just buy what I like, but I have always loved bold colors. Enough rambling, here is what I got. :)

This is a top I bought at Forever 21. I LOVED the color and the detail in the back. It is amazing. I thought it was so pretty and interesting. I also like that it's flowy( I'm not sure how to spell that :/) so it is casual.
Back

Front

Just some basic nude camis. I bought two! One just wasn't enough. They go with everything and they were SO cheap, $2.80.
Forever 21 Basic Top in Nude

This was the perfect top to show off the new Spring trend of Nudes and Brights. I have also been really into stripes lately so this was perfect. Normally I stay away from yellow, I just don't think it flatters my skin tone or hair color, but I thought that since it had the tan mixed in it would be ok. There was a pink and tan, but I have a closet filled with pink. I need a change. :)
GAP Striped woven T

I have been trying to resist buying a pair of colored pants, but as you can see temptation got the best of me. I have been dying for a pair. I went with green. I don't have a lot of green so I thought this was a good way to fit it in. They are cropped, SO cute. I love GAP jeans or jeggings. Even their low rise doesn't seem as low as other brands to me. I'm really not a low rise jean kind of girl. They just aren't made for me. I have hips so anything that's low rise just tends to make me look bad instead of accentuating my curves. GAP= best jeans for me.

FOTD

It was SO warm today, well until it started raining. But I walked outside this morning all bundled up, expecting the worst and it was a beautiful morning. :) anyways this was my makeup look for the day. It's pretty much the same as the day before only I had a sheer lip gloss on.

OOTD/FOTD

Today I just went out to dinner with my family and boyfriend and spent some time with him. It was a laid back day so I wanted to be comfortable. That is my main goal in my day to day outfits. It was also sunny and warmer today so I wanted to wear some brighter colors. Spring is on its way!!! :)

Cheeks: MAC powder blush in Frankly Scarlett, MAC powder blush in Harmony (contouring), MAC cream colour base in Pearl
Eyes: MAC eyeshadows in Patina (all over lid), Satin Taupe(in crease), Brule (underneath brow), Omega (eyebrows), MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy, L'oreal Voluminous False Lashes in Black
Lips: Covergirl LipPerfection lipcolor in Sweetheart
American Eagle Outfitters Scarf and Jeggins, Old Navy top, shoes from Rue 21
I wanted to wear some of the new makeup I just ordered from MAC and I thought this outfit was a fun way to do that. I love all of the bright colors for spring! Can't wait.
